Is Inconel 718 a nickel alloy?
Nickel 718 (UNS# N07718) or Inconel 718 is a precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium alloy containing molybdenum, iron, niobium, and small amounts of aluminum and titanium. Designed to exhibit significant yield strength, high strength, good ductility, and creep rupture properties up to 1300 degree F (704 degree ).

These properties provide Alloy 718 with good formability, weldability and low temperature margin compared to other nickel-based superalloys. The slow age-hardening properties of Alloy 718 also allow annealing and welding without spontaneous hardening during heating and cooling. The alloy is also non-magnetic and has significant resistance to corrosion and oxidation, making it useful in applications such as jet engines, airframe components and high-temperature bolts and fasteners.
